There are certain features which render Loro Park as an indisputable attraction in Puerto de la Cruz. To begin with, the Orchid Garden sheltered here is an all-tempting spot of color and fragrance no visitor should overlook once in Loro Park. The floral asset is complemented by a cactus garden, a dragon tree garden and a jungle. Indeed, a genuine jungle which is the original core around which the nowadays park has developed.
The venue is, in addition, sunken in the lush greenery yielded by the some 8,000 palm tress. Yet, the animal life asset of the place exceeds, by far, its floral pride. Thus, the animal species range from gorillas and chimpanzees, to tigers, parrots, dolphins, orcas, penguins and sea lions. Indeed, Loro Park is famed for being home to the largest artificial penguin shelter (penguinarium) in the world and to the largest dolphinarium in Europe. In addition, the tunnel through which visitors can pass in order to admire the large variety of marine species sheltered in the aquarium is also said to be one of the largest in the world. All these attractions fill an area of some 120,000 square meters.
In order to enhance the pastime, the park is also provided with 8 bars and eateries and with a children-oriented area (kinderlandia). The company managing Loro Park also owns the most incredible water park in Tenerife – some say, in the whole of Europe – namely, Siam Park.
