Also referred to as Jardin de Aclimatacion de La Orotava or, simply, El Botanico, the Botanical Garden of Tenerife is actually located in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz. Besides the inner scientific value of the garden, the venue is also of historic interest. Thus, its origins go back to the late 18th century when it was founded upon the order of Marquis Alonso de Nava y Grimon, with the supervision of Nicolas Eduardo. In time, the scientific virtues of the garden were repeatedly ascertained as to the diversity of the species sheltered here. The floral asset of the garden is also worthy of appreciation by force of the rarity of certain specimens. The highlights of the garden refer to the wide range of species of palm trees.
