Church of San Benito Abad
San Benito is the patron saint of farmers and land workers. Given agriculture has long been a traditional activity in Tenerife, one can imagine why this saint is held in great respect on the island. However, the prestige of the saint and of the church dedicated to him alike is greatly enhanced by a pilgrimage which takes place on the first Sunday of July. The pilgrimage of San Benito is one of the most important events of this kind in the entire archipelago.
